Reduce stress, using simple self-hypnosis

With this method, by monitoring and controlling breathing, you will immediately relax and reduce stress levels, wherever you are, no matter what level of background noise.

You do not need to close your eyes or make any movement that would be obvious to others around you.

It does two things;

  • It increases the oxygen levels within your body, sending more oxygen to the brain, enabling you to think more clearly

  • It takes your mind off the immediate stress

So, when you're feeling stressed and anxious, take a few moments to concentrate on your breathing;

As you breathe in;

Imagine calmness flowing into your body, from your toes, right up to your head, warming and relaxing as it spreads throughout your body. Give that calmness a colour…whatever you associate with calm
visualise your body as it fills…

As you breathe out;

Imagine stress flowing out from your body, from your head, right down and out through your toes. Give that stress/anxiety a colour….whatever you associate with stress and anxiety visualise your body as it empties.

Feel your stress and anxiety levels reducing in your whole body.

Continue with this, letting your breath come and go easily and in a steady slow rhythm, letting one breath flow naturally into another. You can use this technique wherever you are, at any time.
